IN TWO VOICES

NEW INTERPRETATION OF A COURTYARD, ZURICH, SWITZERLAND, 2002.

study commission.

nature and glass fuse to a symbiosis across all the seasons of the year. in wintertime, the leaves are fallen and the glass volumes heated and exposed to the sun, in summer time the plants are green, covering the areas as pergolas. the glass volumes are open to let the breezes cool the air. In spring and fall the two functional levels can be combined.

the integration of plants into the concept of a naturally regulated climate of the zones - half house half courtyard - express the courtyard's proximity to the forest and its mediterranean character. nature extends into the courtyard and enters into a relationship with the material glass, varying in closeness and distance to each other. the constellations of the two change as the locations in the courtyard do.
